How to take the test in Uzhhorod

EyeDetect equipment is available at our office in Lviv and at our partners in Kyiv and Zaporizhzhia. We bring it to other cities in Ukraine ourselves. The VerifEye online test works from any city.

A lie detector test beyond the Carpathians: how it works in Uzhhorod

Uzhhorod lies on the far side of the Carpathians, right at the border with Slovakia: there is a border crossing in the city itself, and the Zakarpattia region as a whole borders four countries. The city lives mainly on trade and services, with its cafés, restaurants and hotels, while the region is known for resorts, mineral and thermal springs and winemaking. Hence the kinds of situations that are easy to picture here: the till in a café, a house let to holidaymakers, a family divided by the border.

The trip from Lviv takes about five hours one way, so coming to our office from Uzhhorod for a single test means a whole day on the road, and a specialist visit is something we plan in advance. That is why it makes sense to start here with the VerifEye online test: a person takes it on a phone wherever they are, in Uzhhorod, Mukachevo, Khust, Berehove, Vynohradiv or across the border. An EyeDetect visit is worth ordering for a group, for example a whole shift of a café or hotel, tested over a single day. The test can be held in the café before opening time, in a free hotel room or in an office: it only has to be quiet and have a table near a socket.

A separate note on language. We run the test in Ukrainian, Russian, English or German, and the person reads the questions in advance. In Zakarpattia this is worth checking at the start: if someone reads most comfortably in Hungarian, as many people in Berehove do, the questions will still be in one of the four languages, and the person needs to understand it well.

A few examples to show which questions suit the test; it is taken only by someone who has agreed in writing. Imagine a café or a small hotel: the takings for September do not match the number of guests, and three people worked the till. The question for each of them: “Between September 1 and 30, did you take payment from guests without putting it through the till?” It also happens that an owner lives in another city and lets a house near the thermal pools through an acquaintance: “This summer, did you put up guests you did not tell the owner about?” Or a husband works in Slovakia, his wife has stayed in Uzhhorod, and suspicion grows between them; he then takes the online test where he lives: “Since June 1, have you had sexual contact with anyone other than your wife?”

And finally, the word people usually search for. Any lie detector test tends to be called a polygraph test; ours runs on EyeDetect and VerifEye, which assess eye reactions, and there is not a single sensor on the body. The classic polygraph is a method of its own, and we do not use it.

Common reasons to book a test

  • Theft or missing money

When several people are under suspicion, each of them answers the same questions. The result is not court evidence and is no substitute for reporting to the police.

  • Infidelity in a relationship

We check one specific suspicion: we draw up the questions together with you, and the person reads them in advance. The test is voluntary and requires written consent.

  • Job candidate or employee

Screening before hiring or during employment on agreed topics, such as theft at a previous job or ties to competitors.

  • Dispute without evidence

A debt, an agreement or an accusation where it is one person's word against another's: the test checks a specific version of events. The result is not court evidence.

  • Yes. The test checks one specific suspicion, for example infidelity over a certain period. The partner under suspicion takes it, or both partners take separate tests. The test is voluntary and requires written consent. The VerifEye online test costs from UAH 2,500.

  • Ukrainian, Russian, English or German. We do not run the test in other languages, including Hungarian. We draw up the questions together with you, and the person reads them in advance.

  • No Ukrainian law bans private voluntary polygraph tests or regulates them specifically. General rules apply, including the Law on Personal Data Protection: consent to data processing must be voluntary and informed. We test only with written consent, and minors only with written consent from their parents and with the parents present. The rules for testing employees and job candidates are stricter, so talk to a lawyer first. In criminal cases in 2023–2024, Ukraine's Supreme Court did not accept a polygraph examiner's conclusion as stand-alone evidence, and our result is not court evidence either.

  • No. A quiet room with a table, a chair and a power outlet is enough. We bring the equipment with us.

  • 6–8 people per day. For larger groups we plan two days.

  • Yes, VerifEye from a phone from UAH 2,500. For fidelity checks and job candidates this is often more convenient.
